As the cost to get the repots are prohibitive i am exploring options to remove the muck in the pond. The other half I want to leave as is for the ducks, frogs. My goal is to clean out and deepen half the pond for swimming and improved fish habitat. Which does not even guarantee that I am allowed to clean out part of the pond. To do any work on the pond I need to have over 20 thousand dollars worth of environmental reports. The pond was dug in the 70's but is now considered naturalized and because of its location is now considered to be part of a provincially significant wetland. I have started to explore the option of getting the pond cleaned out and run into some road blocks. In the last few years the plant growth has really taken off. I would say it has 3 feet plus of much on the bottom. I have a 2 acre pond on my property that is about 6feet deep. I am stuck in a bit of a conundrum balancing my environmental ethic, government regulation and economics. Looking to tap into the knowledge on this site.
